Artist’s Statement

About her current work Barbara says:   I am working simultaneously on two groups of large paintings, Marks in Time, to be exhibited fall 2017, at Craig Gallery will pair paintings with direct quotes from my journals of nearly 20 years. The canvases will highlight important changes in my life and simple details that catch my interest as I go back through my written entries. The second and larger group of works, Embodiment, which will be curated by Tila Kellman, to be exhibited in the spring of 2018 at St. Francis Xavier University Art Gallery, Antigonish. This group focuses on body movements, large and small, and how they translate and are “embodied” in marks on canvas.
